Dear Colleague,
On behalf of the organising committee I warmly invite you to the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine (ANZSGM) Annual Scientific Meeting 2011, ’Pathways to Learning’. We all gain knowledge in a variety of ways but a highlight of every year is our annual conference. The networking, camaraderie, informal discussions, peer reviews and debate are as integral to the success of the meeting as the content.
Our keynote speakers will present pathways to learning that you find stimulating, innovating and new. Professor Stephanie Studenski, an academic and practising geriatrician will speak on one of our core topics: staying upright and keeping moving. Professor Steve Iliffe will talk on dementia, particularly from a community and primary care perspective. Professor Tim Wilkinson will present directly on pathways to learning: principals of adult learning, how to apply them and how we can teach ’on the run’.
Of course no conference would be complete without free papers from our trainees and members so I encourage you to start preparing now. We particularly welcome papers on the key themes.
Auckland is an engaging “big little city” with something of interest for everyone: fine dining, good shopping, nearby wineries, a beautiful harbour, and a wide range of sporting and cultural activities. Add a weekend, bring your family or friends and enjoy some traditional Kiwi hospitality!
See you in Auckland, 4-6th May 2011.
Kind regards
Maree Todd
Convenor
