The Fudge Cottage Kitchen Tour is one of the best and well known attractions in the area. Watch professional confectioners craft the fudge whilst you taste from a huge array of mouthwatering delights. See and taste the fudge as it is poured onto the table and you will understand why The Fudge Cottage is a local icon and 'must see' for visitors.
The Fudge Cottage was founded in 1990. From small beginnings on a stall in Cathedral Square with a fold out table, demand for the unique fudge quickly grew leading to a shift to The Arts Centre market shortly after. On Valentine’s Day, 1994, The Fudge Cottage Shop opened its doors and introduced a wide array of traditional treats to the people of Christchurch and is now one of the city's local icons. The Fudge Cottage began Kitchen Tours in 1999, providing an exciting insight into the art of fudge making. Today, The Fudge Cottage remains a locally owned and operated family business and continues to provide the superior confectionery that has made it world famous.

John Menzies and Lee Eliott originally set up the first shop in Queenstown in August 2001, with a vision of wanting people of all ages to get back into the world of creating for themselves, truly unique wearable art.  With a little bit of help from us and the availability of beads from all over the world and all the tools necessary to give people this opportunity, the idea has since expanded to Dunedin and Christchurch.

Our friendly experienced staff are constantly making and creating their own hand-crafted designs. Examples of the vast range of possibilities are on display in our shops.  Create your own in the comfort of our shops with as much or as little help as you need from our friendly, experienced staff. Remember, there is so much more than jewellery to create, key rings, phone dangles, bag dangles, the list is endless!

Ko Tane Living Maori Village at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, where Maori culture and conservation meet, to give a unique glimpse into the way of life of the South Island Ngai Tahu Maori people before the arrival of the Europeans.

Experience the thrill of the wero, the traditional challenge to visitors, as you are brought into the sacred precinct of Tane Mahuta, Maori God of the Forest. Hear the haunting traditional call, the Karanga, performed by a wahine (woman) as the powhiri (ritual of arrival) begins, allowing you to enter our hidden enclave.  Listen to a tane (male) explain the customs of the Ngai Tahu tribe, as you visit the Living Village and witness an ancient way of life where Maori struggled to survive in the harsh conditions of the most southerly of the Polynesian Pacific Islands.  Learn about the coming of the Pakeha (fair-skinned ones), the changes Maori were forced to make from their traditional way of life and how the culture has grown and adapted as a result.  Join in the laughter as you take part in a performance of the haka (men) or the poi dance (women), and be entertained by the songs and games performed by our kapa haka (Maori cultural performance) group.

Our village is set in the Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, one of Christchurch's leading attractions, where you can take a guided New Zealand nature tour and get close to Kiwi, Kea and other native bird species housed in sensitively purpose-built environments.
